This quote is often followed by endless discussions from brave internet warriors about their lists of qualifications and how they intend to fight, kill or stop the machine that is the federal government. The forums dissolve into pointless debates on the best ways to garrote multiple people or make a last ditch stand alone in your house. Almost always there will be one or two individuals who will make a legitimate statement and ask a serious question, these people are quickly drowned out by the howling of the animals that inhabit the internet forums and call themselves men.

I was at one point quite taken with the idea of being able to reach hundreds if not thousands of people with what I considered to be sage wisdom and advice. This resulted in my belonging to dozens of various forums at one point or another. However, for over two years now I have avoided the trap that is the illusion of communication via the internet. Recently I disavowed almost all of my networking sites, and have kept only this blog because I cannot afford to print a paper copy if every article written for the thousands who read it. I say this because I do not want to see others waste their time attempting to debate and change others via the internet. You cannot change others, however, you can make a difference in your own life.

The spate of letters both open and anonymous that have been recently published to either politicians or LE is interesting, some of these letters are quite well written and make sense. Others show signs of serious mental issues and degradation. If things get to the point where we must enter into an insurgency against this government, I can only hope that I am not lumped together with these crazy people who are not thinking about the consequences of their actions. Just because you own the latest gadgets and have ten thousand dollar scopes on your twelve thousand dollar .308 caliber AR does not make you invincible. So you have ten thousand rounds of ammunition and reinforced steel walls in your house, your sandbag supply is massive and you make sure your neighbors see you walking around with your new guns, supplies and preparations. All this means is you are the first target and likely will be dead long before you hear your children’s last screams, should things get bad.

The other side of this coin are the unfortunates who have spent time in the US military or as LE, unfortunately they are in no way prepared for being an insurgent by virtue of their prior federal or state service alone. In fact they will be far more of a detriment to others by the very nature of their training and the unfortunate side effect of over two hundred years of indoctrination that the uniform is to be respected. If you are an intelligent person and are able to read, start with Sun Tsu and the Art of War, than read Rogers Rules, and lastly take a few minutes and study the tactics being used against us with GREAT success in Afghanistan, Iraq, Africa, South East Asia and think about how this applies to your decision to put a former uniformed person in command of your little rebel unit.

This brings up another item for clarification, cops and local politicians. It is not a secret that I detest the state, I detest those who willingly contribute to it, and I detest the idea of law enforcement and politicians. With this being said, I feel it is necessary to understand that if you plan on waging a successful insurgency you must have the local people on your side. This means befriending and supporting local LE, politicians and showing other civilians in your area that you are an invaluable asset to the betterment of their lives and survival. This may seem contrary to the very idea of what is happening, however, the important factor here is to remember that it is NOT the locals who are your enemy, they are your neighbors, your kids friends and possibly even your friends. It is the federal government that desires your lives, freedom and obedience. Concentrate on the core problem and work with the locals to show them the benefits of working together.

Counter intelligence operations (COIN) by the military ONLY work if the locals turn against each other. Thus, the appropriate response is to further consolidate the local area and work with others versus working against them. This does not mean everyone is made aware of all activities or preparations, it does mean however, that your neighbors must see you as a benefit not a threat. Volunteer with various organizations, and encourage others you know to do the same with other organizations. Help out with political fund-raisers and get luncheons, join your local volunteer police assistance teams and do everything you can to improve your local area. The IRA won under Michael Collins not because he was better than anyone else, but because he solidified the locals against the foreign oppressors. In Afghanistan the insurgents consistently avoid detection and apprehension because they have the support of the locals. And in the American revolution, we beat the British because we had large support networks for food and supplies.

Do not let the state separate you from your neighbors, do not turn on them, do not preach death and destruction to them. Show them why you are the best choice when compared to the state itself. Remember, people who call for separation and isolation will get exactly that, and they will lose everything eventually. Rawles and others preach this approach, and sadly, it is an approach that has NEVER worked. Stay where you are, and work on helping those around you see that by embracing community solidarity you can indeed win!
